Who Reba is
As the trainers describe her
A returning dog. She trained with the company before; it did not work out with her owners; they surrendered her or let the company keep her; she is now in the company's rescue. That is the trainer's account. Nothing about the family is said beyond it.

with all the other dogs and Reba had already trained with us before and then it just didn't work out for her owners so they ended up surrendering or letting us keep Reba and so now she falls
Her training decayed without maintenance. By the trainer's verdict she does not know much, and he is close to starting over.

Keen to be back. At the Kodak and Rocko lesson someone calls her video 'the worst video ever' because she was so excited, and says she was just happy to be back in the training yard. The video is not named; that it is the refresher is an inference.

A Reba is out in the yard during a Wiley session and greeted in the kennel on two Thor sessions. In the trainer's household, Waffles barks at a Reba more than she barks back, and she lets herself out of her area. None of these says it is the rescue dog (see provenance).

The refresher assessmentTurning point
Uploaded 2026-08-26; called day one of her refresher.
A potential home depends on her getting along with its dogs, so she is brought back for a refresher. The trainer reintroduces the e-collar on come and sit to remind her what it means. He says dogs who feel it again after a long gap often remember everything at once, and that she remembered. His verdict still goes the other way: this will be more than a refresher, closer to a clean slate, because her training was not maintained. With real work he expects her to be good in a week.

but the dogs can't bark so much um this is day one of her refresher she is potentially has found her forever home and it only they can only take her if she gets along with all the other dogs
So, it's been a while since she had training, so we're just going to use the e-collar to remind her.
so the first normally what happens is when dogs feel it again for the first time in a long time they're like oh it's like everything comes flooding back into their mind and they remember
see when Reba was October of last year that was almost 10 months ago yeah this is gonna be more than a refresher this is definitely gonna be more than a refresher it's probably gonna be like a uh welcome back let's start over again

The trainer says the company started its own rescue and has placed one dog. He hopes to place Reba with Rocco and Kodak's owners, who met her and liked her, and to integrate all three dogs. At the owner lesson, the owners ask about Reba and are told she is being worked on.

How the method adapted
One stated adaptation: a returning dog is not assumed to remember. She is re-assessed on day one and restarted as needed.
A refresher treated as a restart.
Ten months without maintenance. The trainer's test shows most of her training gone.
